Volunteering
Interested in volunteering?
Volunteering can be extremely rewarding and can make a huge difference to your community. If you can spare a small amount of time to join our friendly team of volunteers to drive or help coordinate the service from your home, we would love to hear from you.
We can work around your availablity and there is no fixed commitment to drivers. We email the list of requests to drivers and they select the trips they would like to do. We provide the necessary training and a mileage allowance is paid to cover drivers’ expenses.
Our volunteers enjoy being part of a friendly team.
Please see the video and volunteer case study below for more information.

When I heard about Link it seemed to be the perfect way to do something useful while also being flexible and fitting in with my life.
Over a coffee and a chat with the recruitment volunteer, she explained to me how Malmesbury Link operates and how best to do this as safely as possible while driving my own car. She talked me through how to apply to be DBS checked which was very quick and straightforward. Apart from that, all I had to do was inform the insurers that I would be doing volunteer driving which didn’t even alter my premiums.
We get emails listing the trips that are required and I often do one when I can. I find the clients are so grateful and enjoy the company while travelling to what would otherwise be a routine appointment.
Everything we need like parking permits and safety masks is supplied and we are paid a mileage allowance to cover our expenses and it has been great to meet a few other volunteers along the way too.
